Traffic Relief and Transportation Alternatives
Gwinnett County residents are ready for some traffic relief, and Bruce LeVell has the experience and vision to bring about real change. As the Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners’ appointee to the MARTA Board of Directors, Bruce has seen first-hand how transportation alternatives not only improve mobility and provide greater choice, but he understands how a light rail transit system and mixed-use redevelopment could transform some areas of District 1, such as the Gwinnett Village and Gwinnett Place CIDs. Bruce has immediate plans to implement bus rapid transit, utilizing articulated buses, which will more than double the ride capacity of traditional buses.

As a small business owner in District 1 for more than 15 years, Bruce understands the challenges we face as a still-growing county, particularly in the area of transportation. As our county matures, we must seek new ways to accommodate our continued growth, and we must plan for it before it comes, not after… (Click here to read more about Bruce’s plan)
Revitalization and Quality of Life
Bruce was asked in 2005 by the Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners to serve on the Board of Directors of the Gwinnett Village Community Improvement District (CID), and in that capacity he has seen first-hand how the steady decline of a community can impact every resident’s quality of life.
Bruce is working hand-in-hand with community and government leaders, including organizations like Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful and Partnership Gwinnett, to foster the revitalization of this critical area of the county and District 1. Renewing this community – through infrastructure improvements, fostering a sense of community pride, and development of new mixed-use activity centers – is a crucial step in ensuring the future prosperity of Gwinnett County. Bruce believes we must act now to address the revitalization and redevelopment of these areas before it becomes necessary to revitalize all of District 1 and Gwinnett County… (Click here to read more about Bruce’s plan)
Protecting Our Citizens
The most critical action any government can take is to protect its citizens from crime. As a small business owner, Bruce understands the toll that crime can take. The residents of District 1 deserve to feel safe in their homes, at their places of work, and in the community.
As your commissioner, Bruce will make it a priority to see that Gwinnett County Police salaries remain competitive enough that we do not experience vacancies on the force, which would hinder the county’s ability to properly safeguard its residents…
Furthermore, Bruce will not allow Gwinnett to become a “hot spot” for late-night partying. Already we are seeing certain clubs and bars in District 1 that are violating closing ordinances and requiring police officers to use valuable time dealing with drunk and disorderly patrons… (Click here to read more about Bruce’s plan)
A Business Approach to County Government
Bruce will fight to keep taxes on Gwinnett residents low, while ensuring that the services enjoyed by Gwinnett taxpayers continue. Bruce’s small business experience has taught him that taxpayers know best how to use their own money. His years of preparing a budget and successfully operating a retail establishment will aid the county as it enters a financially challenging period. Bruce will ensure that county government dollars are being spent most wisely, in ways that bring the most value for the taxpayers… (Click here to read more about Bruce’s plan)
Illegal Immigration
As a Business owner himself, Bruce LeVell understands that the only way to solve Gwinnett County’s illegal immigration problem is to eliminate the jobs that attract illegal immigrants to our county. Bruce will do this by penalizing businesses that break the law and hire illegal immigrants. Businesses that try to save money by hiring undocumented workers cost all taxpayers more in the long run; causing strains on our schools and hospitals. Additionally, Bruce LeVell fully supports 287(g) to make sure that illegal immigrants that commit crimes in our county don’t become an additional burden on the taxpayers.
